Egerton University at Career Expos in Coast and Nyanza

Egerton University conducted Career Expos a cross the Coast Region and Homa Bay County between 27 - 30 June 2019. While at the Coast, the university team visited Waa Boys High School, Waa Girls High School, Matuga Girls High School and Kwale Girls all from Kwale County. The team did also visit Mama Ngina Girls and Sheik Khalifa Secondary School both in Mombasa County. To conclude the coastal activity, the University exhibited its academic programs at the Kilifi County Technical Subjects Symposium and Contest held in Chumwani Secondary School and attended by 19 secondary schools from the region.

At these events, the Registrar Academic Affairs, Prof. Mwanarusi Saidi encouraged high school students in the coast region to consider joining Egerton University upon completion of KCSE level. She observed that Egerton University is an established agricultural university in Eastern and Central Africa that is well recognized by global cooperates such as Mastercard and World Bank. She did also highlight some of the scholarship opportunities available for needy students from undergraduate to postgraduate. The team did also display the university visuals to the students to give them an idea of what Egerton University looks like.

On a related note, the Director International Linkages and Career Services, Dr. Wambongo Recha, led another team in attending a Career Open Day at Homa Bay High School in Homa Bay County on June 28, 2019. While there, the Director underscored the long established tradition of experiential learning at Egerton University. The Director noted that Egerton University has a variety of market driven programmes, which enhances job placement. The event was attended by eighteen (18) high schools from across Nyanza region and eight (8) tertiary institutions across the country.
